5 Nights of OPA (Greek: ΏΠΑ)!
Tues-Sat, June 5-9, 2012
One of my absolute all time city festival favorites is the Holy Trinity Greek Festival on the corner of 9th & Broom Streets in Wilmington! There are few places you can chow down on Greek foods this authentic in Wilmington like gyros, souvlaki, mousaka, pastichio, dolmades, loukoumades, spanokopita, baklava & floyeres and all while enjoying ethic Greek music & dance performances. Open daily for dinner at 4:30pm. Plus Greek beverages including Greek Beer & Wine, Greek: φραπές, frapés and of course Ouzo! Lunch at the festival is a great option too & very convenient! Free shuttle service will be available from 9th and Market Tuesday, June 5 through Friday, June 8, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. A family friendly environment you won’t want to miss!
ENTERTAINMENT
Kick back and relax to the diverse and celebrated sounds of Greece. All while being mesmerized by the social, jumpy yet sharp dance performances only to be nudged by your neighbor-remember this is Delaware(the land of 2 degrees of celebration, I mean separation) all while partaking in the best entertainment by far – people watching Greek~Style.
- Philadelphia’s Atlantis performing live Greek music nightly 6:30pm until 11:00pm at North Grounds.
- DJ Music Mixes 5:30 daily. Kids entertainment is also located on the South Grounds.
- Terpsechorian Troupe of Holy Trinity perform at 7:30 p.m. on south grounds & 8:30 p.m. on main grounds.
- Church Tours – Open for viewing everyday from 4 to 6:30pm. Every night at 6:30pm Father Dean Nastos will conduct a 30-40 minute tour of the church to explain its iconography, and other interior architecture, as well as answer any questions that you may have. The doors of the church close at 7p.m.
NEW TAKEOUT FOOD SERVICE
For those who can’t dine-in for lunch, they are offering a new service of curbside pick up from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. everyday, including Saturday. This includes the takeout booth menu only. Download the curbside menu and fax your order to 302.654.4204. Then just pull up on Broom Steet and look for our curbside takeout banner for pick up. Doesn’t get much easier than that!

About the history of the Greek Community in Wilmington
The first known Greek Immigrants arrived in Wilmington in 1890. They were the Tsagares brothers, Panagiotes and James.
Within a few years, John and Nick Govatos arrived and started the first “big” Greek business in Wilmington which exists to this day: Govatos Candies with two locations on Market Street & Concord Pike.
