The scene is set at the Misses Morkans’ annual holiday party for an evening of rousing songs, poigna nt ballads, saucy jokes, ceili dancing, and plenty of pints. Producing Artistic Director Michael Gray transports the players out of Victorian times and into a modern-day Dublin. Set designers Vicki Neal and Richard Kendrick are creating a typical Irish pub out of the Black Box at OperaDelaware. A Dickens Experience will transport visitors back to mid-nineteenth century England to experience an interactive version of Charles Dickens’ classic novella, A Christmas Carol. The festivities will feature street theater, bell ringing, carolers, and street vendors offering up old-fashioned treats. Meet members of the Cratchit Family, including Tiny Tim, and look out for Ebenezer Scrooge as he makes his way through the cobblestone streets. In addition to familiar characters and village folk in period costumes, expect plenty of themed-happenings throughout the rest of the weekend.
