City Theater Company to Present James Joyce's THE DEAD, 12/5-20City Theater Company Presents James Joyce’s The DEAD  

The scene is set at the Misses Morkans’ annual holiday party for an evening of rousing songs, poigna nt ballads, saucy jokes, ceili dancing, and plenty of pints. Producing Artistic Director Michael Gray transports the players out of Victorian times and into a modern-day Dublin. Set designers Vicki Neal and Richard Kendrick are creating a typical Irish pub out of the Black Box at OperaDelaware. The bar is open for the show’s duration and patrons may enjoy booth and table seating as if they are at the party. December, 5th- 20th. An international cast of over 30 artists costumed as holiday ornaments come to life and perform astonishing feats of disbelief. Experience gingerbread men flipping mid air, toy soldiers marching on thin wires, snowmen daringly balancing, icemen powerfully sculpting, penguins spinning, puppets caroling and reindeer soaring high above a landscape of holiday wonderment. DickensSpirit of Christmas & A Dickens Experience

A Dickens Experience will transport visitors back to mid-nineteenth century England to experience an interactive version of Charles Dickens’ classic novella, A Christmas Carol. The festivities will feature street theater, bell ringing, carolers, and street vendors offering up old-fashioned treats. Meet members of the Cratchit Family, including Tiny Tim, and look out for Ebenezer Scrooge as he makes his way through the cobblestone streets. In addition to familiar characters and village folk in period costumes, expect plenty of themed-happenings throughout the rest of the weekend.
