Delaware Beach Patrol Search – 2014 Lifeguard Tryouts

In search of a summer job that offers more than the norm? Have what it takes to join the Delaware State Parks Beach Patrol? Delaware State Parks Beach Patrol is actively searching for qualified applicants to fill the position of Ocean Lifeguard at 5 of its ocean swimming beach areas in Sussex County, Southern Delaware. Ocean rescue is a demanding job, and the DSPBP experienced staff will prepare you to meet every challenge.

DSPBP offers:

Competitive Starting Pay of $11 per hour
Nationally Recognized USLA Training Standards
Physical Fitness Strengthening
Participation in Ocean Lifeguard Competitions
Housing (limited availability)

As a United States Lifesaving Association (USLA) Advanced Certified Agency, DSPBP offers the following paid training:

Delaware State Parks Ocean Rescue Training DOT — First Responder Training CPR/AED/First Aid Training
Helicopter — Open Water Rescue Program
Sussex County EMS — Medic Assistant Training

No experience is necessary, but minimum physical fitness standards and swimming ability are required as follow:

550 Yard Swim within 10 minutes
2 Mile Beach Run within 20 minutes
25 Push-ups within 60 seconds
25 Sit-ups within 60 seconds
100 Yard soft sand sprint (timed)
25 Yard Sprint Swim (timed)
Minimum Age Requirement: 16
