What Teens Want for Christmas - DelawareTop 10 Holiday Gift Ideas for Teenagers

Well parents  – let’s face it, this is the time in life where your kids are not going to write what they want on a carefully written, fully legible, Christmas list. Your going to get the “I don’t knows” and the “whatever’s” when you ask what they want this year from good old Saint Nick. These answers are totally just the reflex answers for the questions they don’t know. But no need to fear.  Either they will tell you eventually OR you can just continue to read, and I’ll promise to be a huge help. I’m 15 years old and I’m going to share what I know about people my age today and also what I recommend as the best and worst gifts for you to purchase. So please, get comfortable and be ready for the top 10 guy and girl teen Holiday gift ideas.

Let’s start with what gift teenage guys really would like to open. These gifts might be a little on the expensive side, but this at least gives you an idea to ponder upon.

#1  Video games – Video games are a guy’s best friend. Xbox, Ps3, Play Station, ectera. I would look for the latest games. If you have trouble defining “what’s the latest” ask the store employee in the game area and he or she should know. This year, I’m suggesting Assassins Creed III and Black Ops 2, and Halo 4 are the newest and hottest games released.

#2 Depending on the guy you’re shopping for, you can supply a nice jersey with their favorite athletes information or if he is not very sporty something that reflects his role model.

#3 Continuing, this is the time where getting a pair of socks would not be a horrible gift. Nike elite socks are the rage at the moment with majority of teenage boys. They come in many different colors and actually the brighter and more eccentric the color, the cooler.

#4 Music has always been a must in this day and age. Getting the best to use is always fun. BEATS(headphones) by Dr. Dre are the best to listen to music. They come in many different versions and price ranges, but the most popular version is called “Studio.”

#5 If you plan on buying clothes for your dear teenaged loved one this year, here is a list of the places to go for guys:  American Eagle • Aéropostal • Hollister • Nike • Dicks Sporting Goods

Now some think females are harder for whom to shop. Do not fret over such a silly thought. Being a guy, I don’t have first hand experience on what a girl thinks. But, I have bought for my fair share of girls and found common interests.

#1 Ladies love smells: perfumes, salts, lotions, ectera. I know my sister likes to spray herself in the morning with a sweet fruit body spray she got for her birthday. Bath salts are good for a stressed soul that needs to relax every one once in a while. Bath & Body Works works.

#2 Also a good stocking stuffer would be an accessory for the hair.  Different types of bows and hand bands express creativity in life, and every girl now a days aims to be original. Maybe even a salon certificate would be nice.

#3 Speaking of creativity and being original, make-up is also another nice gift. Supplying a nice pallet of colors ranging from bright pink to dark brown would be nice to give a variety. Think ULTA or Sephora.

#4 Rings, bracelets, and earrings are going to become a major accessory to the teenage girl. When it comes to rings, they need to be large on the finger(any finger) or even take up a couple knuckles. But bracelets, they need to look like they were made by hand, either from bright string or even made out of everyday recycled items like baseball leather, old bottle caps, etc.

#5 This all leads ultimately into fashion.  The ladies all like to look great the month after Christmas(BACK TO SCHOOL). The best stores to shop for teenage girls are:• Abercrombie and Fitch • Hollister • Victoria Secret PINK • American Eagle • Aerie

Now what I’m about to talk about is the same for both genders – guys and girls. It needed to be its own separate paragraph on the account everybody wants it. We all have heard of the Apple Company. We all know the iPhone 5 came out in September of 2012, and it was the “best thing to happen to iPhone, since iPhone.” Apple products like iPods, iPads, iPhones, and iMacBook’s are in very high demand. I would check out apple.com to take a look at their inventory. Anything “i” is a safe bet. “i” newly released products are the iPhone 5, the iPad Mini, and the iPod 5. All are equipped to state of the art technology and are great products. (HINT)

Well, that is the end of my holiday article and I hope I opened your eyes to see what your kids would really like this Holiday 2012. Remember, if they really want something, they will mention it often(hint). Just listen around.  Everything that’s new and the best is always in a teen conversation. I have a very strong vocabulary in English, and enjoy writing for people. But Spanish has a special place in my heart. I have taken Spanish classes for the last three years, and am far advanced then the rest of my peers. I talk Spanish mainly with my grandma, for she is from Puerto Rico and was a Spanish teacher at the University of Delaware. I am also expecting to travel to Argentina and Brazil in the summer of 2013. SCIENCE: I am also a science nerd. I have always loved science and chemistry is my favorite. I hope to write a book one day, fictional, and really open the imagination in people. The number one person who inspired my writing is Rick Riordan: author of the Lightning Thief series, Kane series, and Hero’s of Olympus series.
