Proceeds benefit the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition!

Imagine 100’s of designer and couture bridal gowns valued up to $20,ooo on sale for a fraction of their cost. Some will be priced as low as $100.  Yes, I said $100!  I think I’m going to buy one and I’m not even engaged, but I’m definitley intrigued & can’t help but feel excited too.  Some of this excitement/fascination comes from spending the better part of my younger years working in the family bridal salon.  I have visions of Bridezillas dancing or should I say fighting in my head or maybe I’ve just watched one too many reality shows.  Impending nuptuals or not, I do believe this event will be worth the price of admission; worthy cause, beautiful gowns and oh the possibilities.

The gowns from designers like, Vera Wang, Priscilla of Boston & Oleg Cassini have all been donated to DBCC by the organization Making Memories of Portland, OR. The organization’s primary fundraiser was “Brides Against Breast Cancer,” which collected thousands of bridal gowns from designers, bridal shops and individuals and sold them across the country. The “Brides Against Breast Cancer” sales have been featured in national media including Family Circle, Woman’s Day, Philanthropy World, Modern Bride, and The Oprah Winfrey Show, and locally in Delaware Bride.

Gowns are of assorted styles and range from sizes 2 to 22. Bridal accessories including veils, tiaras and slips will also be available.

The Designer Bridal Gown Sale will be held at the brand new Sheraton Wilmington South Hotel located on Airport Road in New Castle and visible and easily accessible from I-95.

Wedding professionals, including a photographer, videographer, salon, bakery, travel agency, florist and more, will be present at the event. In addition, Sheraton Wilmington South Hotel will be offering a package upgrade to any bride who books her wedding at the hotel. Tours of the hotel will be available throughout the sale. The Sheraton will also be offering special room rates for brides and guests who would like to stay overnight during the bridal gown sale.

The event will kick off with an Exclusive Preview Sale on Friday, March 2 from 4 to 8 pm. Advance online registration is required. The cost is $20 for the bride and one guest with additional tickets available for $15. The event will be free and open to the public on Saturday, March 3 (9 am – 6 pm) and Sunday, March 4 (11 am – 4 pm) with special pricing on Sunday. Free self-parking will be available at the hotel.

The funds raised through this sale will be used to expand DBCC’s programs in Delaware and the surrounding communities to increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms and support and resources to women and men who have been diagnosed with breast cancer.
