Winter is almost in full affect, which means cold weather, possible snow, and less sunlight. Who wants to go for a run along the Brandywine River when its 30 degrees outside? In a blizzard, no one wants to risk the road conditions to head to the gym. Get a quality workout in the comforts of your home by using HIIT protocol.

What is HIIT?

HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) consists of switching between short intervals of high intensity exercise followed by short rest or recovery periods. HIIT has many benefits, but none more popular than the fact that the workouts take 20 minutes or less, allowing anyone to achieve a quality workout into a busy schedule.

Cardio. On a treadmill, sprint at a high speed for 30 seconds and walk or jog at a moderate pace for one minute. If you have stairs in your home, carefully sprint up and down in the same intervals.

Weights. Use HIIT for compound exercises, such as squats and deadlifts. Choose a weight that will allow you to last for one-minute intervals and still maintain proper form throughout. Alternate between working and rest sets.

ROM Machines. ROM Exercise Machines give you a full body workout in just four minutes each day. Work your upper body on the front of the machine one day and your lower body the next.

If you’re new to HIIT training, aim for 10 to 12 minutes to start out. Utilize this training in the gym, at home, and outside on those unseasonally warm winter days.

If your gym doesn’t have a ROM Machine, recommend the XLR8 Rom Machine and learn more by calling 1-877-760-4994.
