Art Loops
It’s the first Friday of the month and that means Art Loops in both Wilmington and New Castle! Art Loop Wilmington brings together art lovers and community to the ever-evolving downtown and greater Wilmington areas. Art galleries, studios, museums, and alternative art spaces offer a FREE opportunity to meet the featured artist(s) while enjoying refreshments, and in some cases live entertainment. In Old New Castle, you can stroll the streets of Delaware’s Hidden Treasure to experience great Art, Food, Wine, Friends, and Fun! Walk through town visiting galleries, artisanal displays, and unique objets d’art while snacking and sipping wine — can it get any better?
Newark Winterfest
Head to the Academy Lawn in downtown Newark to enjoy holiday cheer, roasting chestnuts, caroling, live musical performances, ice carving demonstrations, and much more to fill this wonderful evening of fun for the whole family. The festivities kick off at 6 o’clock.
Christmas Bazaar
St. Thomas’s in Newark is selling crafts, fresh baked goods, cookie trays, quarts of homemade soups, St. Thomas’s t-shirts and hoodies, second-hand Christmas decorations, and exclusive new items! Oh, and Santa Claus will visit on Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. for breakfast and pictures — all for a nominal fee! The Bazaar runs from Friday through Sunday. Don’t miss out!
Bellefonte Holiday Gathering
Join the citizens of Bellefonte as the town rings in the Holiday Season with a concert by Heavenly Hash, food, beverage, sweets, and more! Sit back and enjoy or sing along. It’s family friendly fun!
Movies on Tap: Christmas Vacation
Movies on Tap at Penn Cinema features a meet-and-greet tasting opportunity with some of the area’s most beloved brewers while providing a rare opportunity to view cult-classic films on the big screen. This month, the featured film is the holiday comedy classic “Christmas Vacation.” Attendees will have a unique opportunity to hang out with a local brewer; sample and learn about their beer; and then watch the movie. A portion of the proceeds from each event will help benefit the brewer’s charity of choice! Doors open at 6:30 and the movie starts at 7.
Holiday Open House at Rockwood
Bring your family out for the 16th annual Holiday Open House with live entertainment, children’s activities, costumed characters, refreshments and FREE photos with Santa! The event also includes a Youth Entrepreneur’s Secret Santa Shoppe, selling gifts for the whole family, tours of the holiday display in the museum, and a festive light display in the gardens surrounding the Mansion and Carriage House. The event runs Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

La Cage Aux Folles
This December, City Theater Company transforms The Black Box into a sizzling nightclub for La Cage Aux Folles. Producing Artistic Director Michael Gray promises an over-the-top romp for the hilarious musical comedy by Harvey Fierstein and Jerry Herman. Hijinks ensue for couple Georges and Albin when their son brings home his fiancee — and her super-conservative parents — to the Saint-Tropez drag nightclub they run. One of Broadway’s most beloved shows, it’s a song-and-dance extravaganza with a heartwarming message about love and family that grounds the comic antics. Kick up your heels, and the holidays, with CTC from December 2 to 17!
Chesapeake City Winterfest
Chesapeake City’s season-long Victorian Christmas celebration takes place on both sides of the C&D Canal with a blizzard of holiday lights and spectacular lighted displays along the north and south waterfronts. Come see the lights. Listen to the carolers. Bring the children to Santa’s Workshop in historic Franklin Hall. See the beautifully decorated homes and porch decorating competition. Visit the quaint shops and celebrate the season in world-renowned restaurants while in town. The festival runs every weekend through December 18.
Riverfront Ice Rink
This family-oriented, outdoor ice skating rink provides fun for all ages! The season will run through the end of February 2017. The Riverfront Rink is able to accommodate approximately 350 skaters at once and will be open 7 days a week with extended hours during the holiday break. The Horizon Services Riverfront Rink not only brings the fun winter tradition of skating to the Wilmington Riverfront, it will also offer numerous programs and promotions throughout the skating season. Lace up your skates and we’ll see you at the rink!
Bellevue Community Center Holiday Festival
Take part in a community-wide event with Christmas activities being held at the Bellevue Community Center, St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, and the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant. The holiday fun includes a Winter Wonderland, Christmas bazaar, vendor fair, a store for parents, holiday crafts and activities for kids, free hot cocoa and cookies, holiday music, plus pictures with Santa Claus!
Candlelight Christmas in Chadds Ford
The holiday tour features historic houses and churches in and around Chadds Ford and Pennsbury Townships in Pennsylvania, just minutes from the Delaware border. Historic sites will be candlelit, decked with exquisite holiday decor, and offer special holiday programs. Guides will be on hand the day of the tour to highlight each sites’ unique history, architecture, and decor.
Theatre Organ Concert
This joyous musical evening at Dickinson High School features special guest organist Scott Foppiano playing the Mighty Kimball Pipe Organ. Don’t miss out on this evening of seasonal favorites featuring guest performances by Johannes Brass, Caroline Quinn, Jackson Caldwell, Alex Weir, Michael Marinelli, Mary Ellen Schauber, David Heinze and the 57 Varieties Band, The Choir of St. Joseph’s on the Brandywine, and the combined Handbell Choirs of Hockessin United Methodist Church and St. Mary of the Assumption.
Santa’s Secret Shoppe and Snack With Santa
Children are invited to participate in Santa’s Secret Shoppe at the George Wilson Center. This unique and cost-effective holiday event gives children the opportunity to purchase gifts for family and friends with a pint sized price tag. Get into the spirit by joining Santa Claus for snacks, crafts, games and a relaxed visit also. Bring a camera to capture some special moments!
Rocky Horror Picture Show
Not everything is Santa and sleighs and caroling and ho-ho-hoing…Frankie’s Midnight Runners perform with “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” for the amusement of the audience and themselves. In all seriousness, it’s a bunch of funny people who like to run around in our underwear and heels for your entertainment. Screening starts at 11 p.m. at Theatre N in downtown Wilmington.

Air Guitar Championship at Oddity Bar

Santa in Newark
Santa Claus will be coming to a neighborhood in Newark on Sunday night! Be sure to get in on the festivities outside a private home in the heart of town where Christmas lights will dazzle you and yours. Free parking can be found on the event side of Winslow Road from 4:30-8:30 p.m.
